Serving Together. Sharing Jesus. Loving Beyond Borders.

Support the Team

Why We Go

Each year, our Honduras team partners with local ministries and communities to serve people with compassion, build relationships centered on Christ, and support the ongoing work God is already doing in Honduras. From encouraging local believers to meeting practical needs, this trip is about showing the love of Jesus in word and action.

Additional trip details and ministry highlights coming soon.

“As Christians, we all feel obligated to go on a mission trip at least once. And we should feel this way because God commanded us to make disciples (Matthew 28:16-20). It’s true some have gifts, like teaching and public speaking, that make them seem more suited for mission work than others. Nevertheless, the command remains the same for us all: we must make disciples. The obstacle we all had to overcome before our first trip was doubt about our abilities and qualifications for mission work.

Scripture is clear about what qualifies us for missions and it’s quite simple: we must tell others what Jesus has done for us (1 Corinthians 2:1-5; 1 Peter 3:15). It’s helpful to remember the Bible is full of examples of God using unlikely people to do His work. For example Jesus called uneducated fishermen to be His disciples! God uses unlikely people so it is clear He is the one doing the saving, not us (Ephesians 2:8-9). Our skills and abilities add up to nothing. Bible knowledge and college degrees in theology are important, but ultimately we evangelize through our love, not our theology (John 13:35; Galatians 5:14).

In summary, I’m convinced the Holy Spirit prevailed in prompting each of us to finally make the decision to go (Philippians 2:13). Whether you travel to Honduras on a mission trip, or serve locally, we enjoy the immense privilege of being used by God to deliver His gospel to those He wants to save. Our reward is the blessing of witnessing His work! We pray that others will heed the Spirit’s call, step out of their comfort zones and join us on future trips. There’s work to do for team members of all ages and lots of kids there who need your love.”

Ernie Bailey

“After coming to Nebraska, I felt a need to deepen my commitment and relationship in growth in Christ. As a believer, I felt the need to spread the gospel locally and abroad. I am not sure if my calling is helping/teaching the children in Honduras, but I felt that I should not let any fear stop me. After talking with Pastor Jeff, Tom Watson, and others, I felt I should go. Last year I felt the love of the children and the team. It touched my heart. I think of Isaiah 6:8; ‘Here am I, send me.'”

Scott Pethtel

“I believe the Lord has equipped and wired me for missions. So when I heard that LifeSpring was taking a trip, I wanted to be involved to serve, help, and be reminded of the many blessings I have.”

Cordell Bullis

“I’ve always wanted to go on a mission trip like this, but until now it hasn’t worked out. I am hoping that God will use me to make a difference in the lives of these kids.”

Jeff Todd

“I am a sheepdog who exists to love and serve God, protect His sheep, and help all people know and experience the love of Jesus Christ. That is what led me to the Honduras trip.”

Sunee Scalzo

“I want to share God’s love with others, especially children. I want to share the gospel as it was shared with me. I feel in my heart that this is something God wants me to do. 1 John 3:18-19 tells how we are to give up our lives for others and that’s what I want to do.”

Hyeyong Watson

“My faith is not the result of my own efforts; rather, through God’s absolute mercy and grace—which opened my eyes and ears—I came to realize that I have been transferred from death to life, receiving a new existence as a work of God. I further understood that this gospel cannot end merely with my own salvation but must extend to being shared with others. Through various passages throughout the Bible, I learned that Jesus Christ—having poured out the Holy Spirit upon all believers who have received eternal life—issued to them the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-49; John 20:21; Acts 1:8, etc.)

Evangelism and missions are not about proclaiming the gospel through my own abilities or powers of persuasion; rather, they are works initiated and brought to completion by God alone. God graciously allows me to participate in this work—serving as His method and instrument—and sends me to those He desires to save, enabling me to witness His work firsthand.

Thus, I am going to Honduras because God, my Savior and Lord, has granted me the privilege of participating in this Great Commission.”
