Ephesians 4 tells us that the role of the pastors is to equip people to do the work of the ministry. The pastors want to equip you to be the minister that God has called each one of you to be! We want you to discover your spiritual gifts and then use these with your passions, abilities, personality, and experiences to serve the Body of Christ and the community.
God also calls some to use their gifts in vocational ministry, as their part-time or full-time employment. We want to help these individuals discover and fulfill that calling of God. One of the ways that we do that is through interns and residents. We’ve had many interns over the years, helping out in worship, children’s, or student ministries. These are usually young people who want to investigate the ministry. Another way is through our pastoral residency program. This is for individuals who believe that God has called them to some type of vocational ministry, and they want training and mentoring. Let me introduce to you two of our newest residents:
Mark Fitzhenry, Ministry Resident
Mark is a young guy who has served on the road with LifeAction for several years. We met him at our Summit Conference last April. He was the Youth Revivalist for the Silver Team in 2022-23 and the Worship Director for that same team in 2023-24. He is a native Midwesterner from a big family. He feels that God has called him to serve full-time in ministry in some capacity, but he is not sure exactly in what area at this point. We want to help him get clarity by giving him experience and mentoring in all areas of church ministry. He will spend most of this time working with Student Ministries. Add Mark to your prayer list and make a point to introduce yourself. He will be living with Steve and Jean Holtmann near to the church.
Ki Edmond, Pastoral Resident
Ki and Remi came to LSC less than a year ago from Okinawa, Japan, where Remi grew up. Ki was stationed there with the Air Force. He grew up in Chesapeake, VA. He attended the University of Texas in San Antonio and is now taking online courses with Liberty University. He has strong gifts in evangelism and preaching and has done much ministry in those areas as a young man. He and Remi have 3 small daughters. Remi is a homemaker, artist, and painter. Ki will work with the pastors in study, on-the-job training, and mentoring to better discern where God wants him to focus in ministry.
